Dustin Pedroia Slept With "The Witch" During College

Just spotted in the depths of Wilson.com, a video of former Arizona State coach Pat Murphy reminiscing about Dustin Pedroia's relationship with a Wilson glove in his days as a Sun Devil...while fellow coaches Tim Corbin (Vanderbilt) and Dave Serrano (Fullerton) hold back the laughter.

Watch: Wilson Advisory Staff Videos (third row down, second from right)...transcript below
Dustin Pedroia used a glove with a W right here. He called it The Witch.

When you get to the point where you're naming your glove, you're either a really good player or it's really important to you.

He would sleep with the Witch all the time...ummm, the glove, I mean.

He wouldn't like anybody to touch it. And I think he took it with him everywhere he went.
...except to The Show, apparently.

Which raises the question: Why did Pedroia, once be-Witched by Wilson, start endorsing Easton baseball gloves?

Chances are he had to use Wilson gloves in college because of ASU's team contract with Wilson. Then when he turned pro, Easton might have gotten the edge for the simple reason another big leaguer gave me when I asked why he signed with a certain baseball brand: They offered the most money.

If it was a question of money, betchya Wilson wishes they had opened the checkbook a bit wider now that Pedroia the Destroya' has so quickly went from underestimated and undersized to Rookie of the Year, All-Star, Silver Slugger, Gold Glover, AL MVP, and World Series Champ.

Wouldn't it be great to know which brand Pedroia actually likes best (or did in the past)? Which brand would he use if every company offered him equally ridiculous endorsement money?

Does his current glove have a name? E is for....? And does it share the bed with Dustin and his wife Kelli, or has it upgraded to its own crib since the dorm room days.

Dustin Pedroia Glove - Easton infield gloves

It's tough to tell whether Dustin Pedroia uses an Easton 45 or 48 model, but since second basemen usually gloves on the smaller side, it's probably a good bet that he uses a 45 which is 11.5 inches (the Easton 48 models are 11.75 inches). Here are the Easton infield gloves most like Dustin Pedroia's glove that I can find on the web, followed by two youth gloves that you should check out if you're shopping for a youngster.
